Trump’s victory was a landslide win

I have a not-so-nice comment about Dick Wright’s cartoon in Sunday’s Opinion section. Either he is uninformed about baseball, or an outright liar who purposely distorts facts when they are hard to swallow. Hint. Hint. The Trump victory was not a close call. It was a landslide!

After reading Kathryn Palmer’s Nov. 7 piece, “Newsom, AG lead charge to ‘resist’ second Trump presidency,” I can’t help but ask the question: 1) How much did the California taxpayers have to pay for the 120 lawsuits filed against the Trump administration during his first term in office; and 2) Did the attorney general (Xavier Becerra) or governor (Gavin Newsom) ever report on how many of these lawsuits were successful? Perhaps they should do that before asking California taxpayers to go down that same road again.Dick LaPorte, La Quinta
President-elect Donald Trump’s age should have been a major disqualifier for him in the November 5 election. Not only will he be the oldest President in America’s history, but his constant rantings and loss of his train of thought leads one to question his mental acuity. Dementia does not improve with age and to have the leader of the free world lacking his mental faculties is dangerous for America and the planet.

What America has shown the world is that any man is better in the White House than a qualified woman.

I am saddened and dismayed by the mean-spirited Opinion Page articles in The Desert Sun dated Thursday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, November 10.
Dace Potas, Rex Huppke and Ingrid Jacques should be ashamed for tearing down all the people they excoriated who were giving their best, from the tops of the tickets, to all the hard-working people who helped make the election go as smoothly as it did without violence, to the voters on both sides of the aisle, who dutifully voted early by mail, or waited patiently in line for hours.
How much kinder it would have been to acknowledge this side of our fellow citizens and to appeal to “the better angels of our nature.” Whoever we voted for, let’s try to be kinder and build each other up as we go about our daily lives.
